1. About this site

RenovateIndex.ca is a renovation cost reference tool and contractor directory for Canadian homeowners. The cost estimates on this site are statistical reference figures — not quotes, not guarantees, and not a substitute for written estimates from licensed contractors. By using this site you acknowledge this distinction.

2. Contractor listings

RenovateIndex.ca is a directory service only. We list contractors who apply and are approved; we do not intermediate, warrant, or guarantee any transaction between a contractor and a homeowner. We do not verify contractor licences, insurance, bonding, or WCB coverage. Homeowners are solely responsible for verifying contractor credentials before hiring.

By submitting a listing application you represent that all information provided is accurate and that you are authorised to offer services in the cities you select.

3. Subscriptions and billing

• Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in Canadian dollars.
• Your first charge occurs when your listing is approved, not when you submit.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your listing remains active until that date.
• We do not offer pro-rata refunds on monthly subscriptions.
• If a payment fails, we will attempt to collect for up to 7 days before suspending your listing. You can update your payment method at any time via the billing portal in your dashboard.

4. Content standards

We may reject, edit, suspend, or remove any listing that:

• Contains false or misleading claims (e.g. fabricated reviews, false licensing claims)
• Represents services in provinces or trades where the contractor is not licenced
• Includes inappropriate, harassing, or discriminatory content
• Is used to generate spam or unsolicited contact to homeowners
• Violates any applicable Canadian law

5. Our rights

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove any listing, with or without notice, for violations of these terms or for any conduct that we reasonably believe harms the integrity of the site or its users. Suspended accounts are not entitled to a refund for the unused portion of their billing period.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• Cost estimates on this site are provided “as is” for reference only. RenovateIndex.ca makes no warranty that they reflect actual contractor pricing in your area.
• RenovateIndex.ca is not liable for any dispute, loss, or damage arising from a transaction between a homeowner and a listed contractor.
• Our total liability to any contractor for any claim related to their subscription shall not exceed the amount paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.

7. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province of Alberta, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute shall first be addressed through informal negotiation (30-day notice required). If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration or small claims court in Alberta.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
